Junior Development 2025

DelcoRRC directed another successful Junior Development track meet on Saturday June 7, along with the Swarthmore Recreation Association at the Strath Haven Middle school track in Wallingford. Seventy children, most aged 12 and under, participated despite the threatening stormy weather.

Seven adults ran the open one mile race, won by Matt Ryan in 5:19, with Eric Mundy placing 2nd in 5:27. Sarah Sohail took first for women in 6:25 while Chrissy Mundy was second in 6:29.

Kayla Gaffney, age 14, ran some outstanding races including a 5:37 for the 1600 meters. Identical twins Ava and Hannah Mundy, age 11, had excellent times in the 800m, 1600m, and 400m races, while their bother Ben, age 6, held his own in the 100m and 200m dashes against boys 2 years older.

Meet director Byron Mundy thanks all those who helped run the meet including John Greenstine, John Ashton, John Baron, Meg Nilan, Larry Filtz, Jen Powers, Mary Beth Mundy, Bob Fyfe, Dan Finnegan, Glenn Bowman, Patrick Ashton, TJ Loper (SRA) and Amanda. Also many thanks to the Wallingford-Swarthmore school district for its valuable assistance.
