Delco RRC Hosts 2023 High School XC Championships

Delco RRC hosted 20 high school teams with 600 boys and girls competing in the 2023 Delaware County Cross Country Championships. The meet, held on October 7th at Rose Tree Park, featured a new course and debuted a new, mixed-gender field in the Novice race. Haverford high school varsity girls won the team championship for the second straight year, led by their outstanding junior Olivia Cieslak, who took first place for the second straight year, with a time of 17:44. Penncrest boys were varsity champs. They finished in 2nd place the previous two years. Luke Bodden, a senior at Radnor, took individual honors in 15:24. He was 4th and 6th the previous two years. Plaque awards were presented after the meet to top 5 novice girls, top 5 novice boys, top 8 JV girls, top 8 JV boys, top 20 varsity girls, and top 20 varsity boys. Meet directors John Ashton and Byron Mundy thank all the volunteers who helped with the meet including Terry Adamson, John Baron, Glenn Bowman, Dean Dennis, Mark Draper, Larry Filtz, John Greenstine, Andy Keller, Frances Kirk, Eric Mundy, Mary Beth Mundy, Jen Powers, Kristine Shaughnessy, Brenda Sonzogni, and Mike Wynne. Many thanks to the Delco Parks and Rec department for providing 6 people who ensured safe traffic and parking.
